Mars Hill Church have taken on the whole facility which in addition to providing a place for the Church to meet and worship, aims to bring back to life the old Riviera Cinema building to create a Community Arts Hub which we hope will be enjoyed and used by the local community and beyond.
Whilst retaining the beautiful “Art Deco” styling of the building interior we aim to transform The Riviera into a modern arts and entertainment space. Plans have been made to bring back the Riviera Cinema to life.
It is hoped to show a range of different Films ranging from current releases along with older and more unusual / special interest titles.
Some Theatre Companies and Schools have already shown an interest in using the Riviera to put on Shows and Drama Productions.
It is hoped to create a varied programme of shows throughout the year.
The Riviera Bar & Kitchen currently combines a fine Tapas and A La Carte Restaurant along with a Wine Bar on the ground floor.

The acoustics in the Cinema are great and will provide a wonderful concert venue for all types of music group or band from classical to rock, pop, jazz etc.
A Music Recording Studio is planned to be setup in the rooms below stage level to record small groups, individuals or even concerts from the stage.
The Conservatory area is to become a small Art Studio and Art Gallery. You will be able to see some of our artists at work and purchase a range of Art Prints, Art Cards, Gifts and even original Artwork.
The elegant art deco style function room along with the scenic terrace balcony is available to hire for a range of different functions. The Function room will also host a number of combined themed events with the Cinema / Theatre and Music Concert presentations including themed menus from the Restaurant.

Many people have already recounted memories of the Riviera and many enquiries have been made asking what is happening with the Cinema.

You are invited to a special Open Day at the Riviera Cinema to take a look at the inside of the building where there will also be Information Boards and Artists Impressions of what the building will look like and how it will be used. We look forward to meeting you and answering your questions and there will be opportunities for you to make suggestions and learn how you can get involved or offer help to help shape the future of the whole project.
You can also combine your visit with lunch, if required, which will be served in the Riviera Bar and Restaurant.
